Shelley Beach Park update
Shelley Beach Park’s long-awaited playground renewal is now complete, and it’s officially open! Thanks to a $750,000 grant from Lotterywest, the $1.8 million project has transformed the park into Canning’s first multi-generational playground, offering fun and activity for all ages.
The official opening took place in December 2024, with Mayor Patrick Hall cutting the ribbon as Councillors, staff, and local residents looked on. Both I and Councillor Ben Kunja joined the celebrations, marking a proud moment after years of planning and advocacy for this project. The playground represents a significant step forward in community engagement, creating a space where families, friends, and neighbours can connect and enjoy time together.
Feedback from children and parents on opening day was overwhelmingly positive. The new playground is not just about play-it’s about bringing the community together in a shared, vibrant space. Staff and contractors delivered an outstanding result, with special thanks to CEO Michael Littleton, Warren, Giles, Jason, Asile, and all involved in making the project a reality.
The support, patience, and contributions of the community have been invaluable. This playground is a true reflection of what can be achieved when local residents and council work together.
